A World Of Trouble: Documenting 50 years of U.S. Policy In The Middle East

The Middle East is the beginning and the end of U.S. foreign policy: events there influence our alliances, make or break presidencies, govern the price of oil, and draw us into war. But it was not always so...

Details inconsistent policies and influence of foreign leaders

Washington,

American Presidents from Eisenhower to George W. Bush have sought to distinguish themselves from their predecessors with sudden shifts in Middle East policy and questionable strategies that have contributed to undermining American credibility in the region, according to a new book, A World of Trouble, by veteran correspondent Patrick Tyler, a fellow of the National Security Archive at George Washington University.

New Simple Way to Pick Stocks That Works

clipped from finance.yahoo.com
I have looked at Greenblatt's strategy in detail and decided to include it among the other legendary strategies I offer on my site for one reason -- it works.
As a way to invest in the stock market, Greenblatt's strategy sits comfortably among those of the giants of the investing world. Since I began following it, it is up 46.6%, compared to a loss of 14.5% for the S&P 500

Why does the strategy work? Because it looks it focuses on two variables that get to the core of successful investing -- profitability and valuation.

Pre-Paid Legal Services , which provides a form of insurance that reimburses members for legal expenses, much as medical insurance reimburses members for medical expenses. Its earnings yield is 21.19%, giving it a rank of 16 out of all stocks, and its return on total capital comes to 104.42%, earning a ranking of 32. However, when combined, Pre-Paid Legal Services is No. 4 among the stocks in our database. That's impressive.

How to Win at Networking & Presentations

This was a great interview I heard yesterday on the way home from Las Cruces.
I'm learning new skills to implement into my life that will affect all areas of living.
Harvey Mackay famously teaches that “People buy from other people because of likeability.”
Likability as well as many other savvy networking skills is what helped propel his first business from a failing enterprise to a 100+ million dollar corporation employing over 600 people.

Clip 2: In this next clip Harvey shares some keen insights on these topics and more:

• Where people go wrong in networking – mistakes made
• How he has used golf to build a big Rolodex
• How technology has impacted networking – good and bad
• How to make a BIG impression (great strategy to remember!)
• How to captivate an audience in a presentation…he reveals his trademark secret!

Companies find new ways to battle fraudsters who create fake corporate profiles

Last summer, a Facebook page was launched in the name of MarkMonitor Inc., a company that specializes in helping businesses safeguard their reputations online. Only MarkMonitor didn't create the profile, making the company a victim of just the kind of fraud it helps clients stamp out.

"The page basically said MarkMonitor was a marketing and advertising company in Nigeria," recalls Frederick Felman, chief marketing officer of the real MarkMonitor, which is based in San Francisco.

Thanks to its own technology for identifying impostors on social media, MarkMonitor learned about the bogus profile within 24 hours of its appearance and quickly had it removed.

On social-media outlets like Twitter and Facebook, cyber criminals and pranksters are confusing consumers by creating fake profiles in companies' names. They're also reposting blog entries that

Less pay. More hours. Unhappy workers

My business is blasting off, how about yours? I have not been this excited for a very very long time. I hand out shields to protect people during the coming Revolution. Business is GREAT!!!
Take the survey, get the shield, and get a business that advances liberty for all!

The majority of those still employed now put in longer hours for less pay, quelling motivation in the workplace.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- You don't have to get laid off to feel the pain of this recession. Many workers lucky enough to have survived the ax are still feeling unhappy and unmotivated at work.

Eger, 26, says he feels stretched to the breaking point by his current employer but has been unable to find another job.

Eger isn't alone. It is clear that the recent economic downturn has had an adverse impact on productivity and morale. Forty percent of employees at organizations affected by layoffs say productivity has been negatively impacted, according to a recent survey by the Workforce Institute at Kronos. Of those 40%, two-thirds of them say that morale is suffering and that employees are less motivated than before.

Harassed to Death over Debt - Video

One debt collection agency called a relative to supposedly confirm so and so died - where did he live. Outrageous.

If you lend money to My people, to the poor among you, you are not to act as a creditor to him; you shall not charge him interest. "If you ever take your neighbor's cloak as a pledge, you are to return it to him before the sun sets, for that is his only covering; it is his cloak for his body. What else shall he sleep in? And it shall come about that when he cries out to Me, I will hear him, for I am gracious. ~ Exodus 22

At Howard | Nassiri LLP, we routinely sue collection agencies guilty of unfair behavior under the FDCPA, as well as a similar California law called the Rosenthal FDCPA. Like the attorney in that article, our Paramount debt collection abuse lawyers have seen a sharp increase in clients calling about abuse, harassment and mistaken identity by debt collectors. Unfortunately, many consumers don't realize there are laws protecting them until they have already endured months of constant phone calls, public embarrassment or abusive language and threats. Victims of those illegal practices and many others may sue the collection agency to enforce their rights under the FDCPA, regardless of whether regulators have taken action. Our West Covina fair debt collection attorneys can help victims win back not only the costs the abusive behavior caused, but also $1,000 per violation and all attorney fees and court costs.

Widow sues debt collector, claims wrongful death

    Friday, September 25, 2009

A widow claims that debt collectors hounded her husband to death with as many as nine caustic calls a day, causing stress that contributed to his fatal heart attack. She's suing the Florida couple's mortgage company in an unusual wrongful-death case.

An executive at Green Tree Servicing called the claim "outrageous and meritless."

Dianne McLeod said the collection calls from Green Tree Servicing, sometimes as many as nine a day, intensified in August 2005 and wore on her husband's health.

Some calls were recorded on the family answering machine. Howard is eager to play them for a jury.

Howard said the number and harassing tone of the calls broke Florida law. He said the company also illegally called a neighbor and McLeod's brother and grandson.

"What happened to Stanley McLeod happened to a lot of people," said Howard, who has about 500 cases that claim undue harassment.
